    Name: Stone Setting Basics
    Date: January 24, 2025
    Time: 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM PST
    Event Description:
This weekend workshop demonstrates how to create an original pendant featuring a cabochon gemstone. Students will learn the basic principles of design alongside several stone setting techniques. Techniques include faux prongs, pedestal prongs and tab prongs. Prongs are metal posts that hold a stone securely to a piece of jewelry. They allow minimum obstruction, while showcasing the cabochon gemstone. A cabochon is a gemstone that has been shaped and polished smooth with a flat back rather than facets. Students will leave class with several finished samples and have the option of fabricating their own original design. Materials fee includes several cabochon gemstones, brass and/or copper. However, students are welcome to bring in their own cabochon gemstone and have the option of purchasing sterling silver from the instructor to utilize in their pendant. If purchasing sterling silver or an additional stone from the instructor, the materials will be priced at wholesale cost from the instructor’s personal inventory. AGES: 16+
