Fairway Center Service may be a forgotten quality in many high-volume stores, but not in Lynden. With most shops owned and managed by local residents, customers receive prompt and friendly service, as well as expertise that comes from many years of retail experience.

However, Lynden is big enough to offer plenty of choices among its 75-plus stores. They are primarily clustered in five retail centers: Downtown Lynden, Fairway Shopping Center, Lynden Towne Plaza, Marketplace at Lynden, and Bender Plaza. While each is unique in the products and services it offers, they all offer architectural features that enhance the European and particularly Dutch flavor of the community.

Downtown Lynden – about five blocks along Front and Grover streets – is the focal point for most of the community's festivals and celebrations. You can't miss it – just look for the large, rotating windmill that is the anchor for the Dutch Village Mall, a collection of local shops featuring a 150-foot canal through its center. The Historic Business District also has most of the community’s professional service businesses, including attorneys, accountants, engineers, and insurance companies.

Just a mile west of downtown is the Fairway Shopping Center (along Front Street between 17th and 18th Streets), home of restaurants, hardware stores, gift shops, a bank, a drugstore, and much more.

Between the Fairway Shopping Center and the Guide Meridian is the Fair Square Shopping Center. WIth a variety of both profesional and retail businesses, you can find some clothing, enjoy some time at the spa, get a picture framed or get you accounting needs taken care. The little mall that has it all.

Most visitors arrive via the Guide Meridian (State Route 539). There they will find Lynden Towne Plaza and the Marketplace at Lynden. Each is anchored by a large supermarket, complemented by several restaurants, banks, and other businesses.

Bender Plaza

Bender Plaza was established in Lynden's northeast sector, where much of its recent residential growth has occurred. It features a convenience station and several restaurants and service businesses.
