Local Theatrical Groups Thriving

Lynden enjoys the performances of two community theatre organizations and two high school drama departments that focus on providing family entertainment. Local actors thrill theatergoers year-round with musicals, comedies, and dramas.

Claire VgThomas Theatre The Lynden Performing Arts Guild typically presents four productions each year, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. The 2009-10 season will feature performances of several well-renowned productions, including "Faith County", "Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka", "Radium Girls", and "Noises Off". Performances are presented in the Claire vg Thomas Theatre, located in the Dutch Village Mall and named after a renowned pianist and longtime supporter of the arts. In 2010, the Lynden Christian High School Drama Department presents the world-renowned play “Aida”, featuring a musical score by Elton John and Tim Rice.  The school’s 590 seat auditorium was built in 2004.  In addition to theatrical performances, the auditorium also hosts band, orchestra, and choral concerts, as well as community events.

The Northwest Washington Theatre Group thrilled spectators with its 2008 production of "Brigadoon". For information about future performances, visit www.nwtg.org.

Lynden High School also performs their productions in historic Judson Hall, which is named for Holden and Pheobe Judson.  The historic auditorium is on Main Street, part of the Lynden Middle School campus.  In 2009 the Lynden High School Drama Department was proud to present "Beauty and the Beast" to near sell-out crowds.
